8.2.08: Haven't posted on here in awhile, but I have still been making art. I've switched from using this site to a new blog, at arthuman.wordpress.com. Updating this site takes a bit of work, I like the layout (if I could just figure out how to get it to work in IE6), but using Wordpress will make it much easier to post artwork. This site is pretty much defunct now, but I'll keep it up for awhile.

5.19.08: I've been busy with making other websites lately. I've also been spending some time deciding how I want to spend the summer. Spending it outside, naturally!

Just added a piece I made about 2 weeks ago, In the Fields. It's one of my first pieces made with acrylics, which I'm enjoying more than watercolor right now. I haven't been spending much time painting, but I felt that this one was worthy of the site.

4.21.08: I finally found some time to make some more artwork; The newest piece is The Dawn Greeting.

This piece isn't so much about conveying a message, as it is a simple pieces of artistic expression.

I'm hoping to be able to continue putting up new artwork every 4-7 days, but this may not be entirely possible all of the time.

But for now, this piece is my latest creation.

4.6.08: I've added my two newest pieces, A Normal Living and the Violet Slavedriver & the Blood Temple.

I've been spending a fair amount of time on increasing my web design knowledge, so I haven't been working on art much.

The waterproof black ink that I got has been a great thing, watercolors actually feel like good inks to use now that I have it. I will almost surely be working in color quite a bit more now, I'm enjoying the emotional expression which is possible with color.

I'll post more works when they are completed.

On a side note, my guitar is now officially broken beyond playability - I've been wanting to put up some more tunes, but it is simply not possible at the moment.

3.26.08: The artwork on this site is catalogued by the date in which it was created. I've added 3 earlier pieces which I felt would be complementary to the site. To find them, you will need to visit the Artwork page.

The newly listed pieces (which were created earlier) are New Media Stiff, Miserable Media: Surrounded, and Obey.

I hope that you enjoy them, or at least that they are evocative in some way.

3.24.08: The site is officially live! It'll be good to be able to focus on other pursuits for awhile. I imagine that I will be updating it regularly, unless I end up busy with other things from time to time.

In any case, here it is, enjoy!

3.24.08: Just posted the political piece that I've been working on; the title of the piece is Methodology of Free-Thought Assassination.

I've also been busy brainstorming new ways of formulating the layout on the political art pieces.

The site will probably launch soon. I need to do some reading up on SEO to make sure that I don't tank the site with the way that I've got it set up or something. I'll launch it once I feel comfortable with my SEO knowledge.

3.23.08: I think I actually have the site in a ready enough state to launch it now. I'm going to get it SEO ready first, and then it'll be about time, I think. I might let more content build up first, but that might be kind of a pointless thing to do. In any case, it's about ready, after a week's work. I think this is pretty good for being my first real site. I think I'll pour myself a cup of tea or something to celebrate.

3.22.08: Alright, well I've begun on a drawing with dip pen with the waterproof ink, and I do feel like coloring it now. I've also begun on a felt pen piece which is definitely politically focused. I suppose it's my forte these days, which is well and good, really.

I think that it is only natural, with a large portion of our country's population seemingly waking up to the realization that something just isn't right with what the political leadership is doing, that many artists today will focus their work on political topics. Part of the purpose of art, after all, is to help us to understand the world that we live in. So if I'm in a frame of mind where I want to better define my own politics, and better understand the nature of what is happening today, then I would only be being dishonest with myself and with the world if I didn't help to bring into being this better understanding of the nature of things, as they are today.

My politics is not mainstream, by any stretch of the imagination, but I think that within a few years, a lot of it will be. I've seen an increasing number of books, websites, and so forth which are clearly right on and looking at things in the same way that I've been trying to see them in recent years, and it's awesome to see true awareness of the political situation coming about.

Nothing really more to write here, I'll post the artwork when it's done. Of course the site isn't live yet, I'm letting it fill out a bit with some solid content before launching it, so I'm essentially speaking to myself only with this entry at this moment, but hell it's fun so all's well.

3.22.08: I've been kind of in a frame of mind where I'm refocusing the direction of my creativity. I've been creative in a more pragmatic sense recently, focusing on the possibility of moving out of the city that I'm living in now to a more rural area, imagining ways that I could make it work.

Additionally, I've purchased some acrylic-based inks, and some waterproof black drawing ink.. art-wise, I've been in a bit of a creative funk, and I recently realized that I was in need of a new approach in the materials which I was using in creating my art.

My foray into watercolor and dip-pen based art has been eye-opening, I really enjoyed what came out of me with Tiger Spirit, but since then I've recognized that watercolor may not be my thing. I think the real pinch though is in the type of inks that I've been using for the black line elements in my works, so among my purchases was some waterproof black drawing ink.

I will probably move away from art with coloration for a bit, as I feel a real draw to create some felt pen based art again, like Corporate Greed, and Corporate Dictatorships.

But it probably won't be so political in nature. I've been away from corporate employment for a couple of weeks now, so that angsty kind of political stuff isn't something I'm thinking about right now. I'm thinking about formulating solutions more than identifying problems.

3.19.08: The digital camera which I ordered came in the mail today. Previously I was borrowing a camera for any pictures I needed to take; now I'll have the flexibility of having my own, which will be nice. The website is not online as of yet. I will be taking some nice photos of the artwork before launch.

3.19.08: Working on the general visual style of the site.

3.18.08: Wrote the first article for the site, An Ode to the Humble Pen. I meant every last word of it.

3.18.08: Some words on the artwork thus far (Tiger Spirit, The Gown, Risperdal Disposition, Corporate Greed, Corporate Dictatorships) - I've been working with felt pen & paper art for the last several months; before this, I spent time drawing for a few days every few months or so.

I recently began painting with dip pen & brush, with watercolor-based inks.

I seem to be consumed by the desire to be creative lately, so I'm making this website to document the process.

3.16.08: Began creating this website. Creating general layout, sections. Hurray free time!
